An estimate
isn’t an
ID check.
Your 18+ server needs a clear verification standard. Discord can classify an account as adult through estimation, and an adult age group isn’t evidence of an ID check. For ID-verified 18+ access, don’t rely on Discord’s adult age group alone.
Works alongside Discord’s own age rules and settings.Age group or ID-backed role
Often estimated. Not proof of an ID check.
Assigned after an approved government ID and live selfie check.
Estimates aren’t checks.
Discord places most users in an age group with a model that estimates age. It acknowledges the limits:
“a small percent of accounts will land in the wrong group”
If a younger account is misclassified as adult, a gate that relies on that classification is relying on the wrong signal. Your server needs a standard you can name and apply.
Discord’s ID option is one of several.
Discord offers several ways to confirm an age group, including a government ID with a selfie (Discord Support). Estimation alone doesn’t establish that an ID check was completed. Age groups aren’t shown to other members, and accounts with an unknown age group get protective restrictions.
One ID-backed check for everyone you admit.
Every member who receives your verified role through GetVerified meets the same requirement: a government ID checked for authenticity, an age check using the date of birth, and a live selfie matched to the ID portrait.

Government ID and live selfie.
Your ID and live selfie are checked securely outside Discord using enterprise-level verification technology.
Confirmation, not documents.
Server staff get confirmation that a member is 18 or older, not ID images, selfies, legal names, addresses or exact birth dates.
An automatic verified role.
After approval, the bot assigns the role you configured.
Verify once, use it across servers.
An active verification that meets a server’s age requirement can be reused in any server with the GetVerified bot.
Keep Discord’s settings. Add your standard.
Discord’s rules and required age-restricted settings still apply. GetVerified adds an ID-backed step on top.

For 18+ server owners.
The standard, the role and who sees what.
What does the GetVerified standard check?
Three things: ID authenticity, age from the date of birth, and a live selfie matched to the ID portrait.
Who handles the documents?
An independent verification service securely processes the ID and live selfie. Your server staff get an 18+ confirmation and the verified role.
How is the verified role assigned?
You choose it during setup. After approval, the bot assigns it automatically.
