Community setup

Age verification
that fits
your server.

You choose three things: the age requirement, where members verify and the role they receive. The bot starts verification and assigns that role after approval. Your Discord permissions decide which channels it opens.

Free to install. Servers pay for new verifications.
Inkwell After Dark

Three choices. A clear path to access.

Example setup for a server called Inkwell After Dark: an 18+ age requirement, a #verify channel with a Get Verified button, and an 18+ Verified role that Discord permissions connect to #after-hours and #film-club.

Your setup guide

Setup, step by step.

GetVerified connects verification to the role and channel structure you already use.

  1. 01

    Add GetVerified to your server.

An administrator adds the bot to the server and reviews the permissions it requests.

  2. 02

    Choose your age requirement.

Set the adult age members must meet before the bot assigns your verified role. The planned options include requirements such as 18+ and 21+; the example on this page uses 18+.

  3. 03

Give members a place to start.

Choose a channel, such as #verify, where members find the Get Verified button. They’ll read how GetVerified works before continuing to the secure ID and live selfie check.

  4. 04

    Choose your verified role.

Select the role members should receive after meeting your community’s age requirement, such as 18+ Verified. The bot assigns this role after a new verification is approved, or when a member arrives with an active verification that meets your age requirement, so they don’t upload again.

  5. 05

    Check roles and channel access.

The bot needs Manage Roles permission, and its highest role must sit above the verified role. Your Discord channel permissions decide which spaces that role opens.

    • The bot can assign the verified role.
    • Members can reach the verification channel before receiving that role.
    • Age-restricted channels require the intended role.
    • Other roles don’t unintentionally grant the same access.
After setup

When members arrive,
here’s what happens.

New members select Get Verified in your server, and after approval the bot assigns your verified role. Members who verified in another server with the GetVerified bot don’t start over: if that verification is active and meets your age requirement, they get your role without another upload.

What your staff receive

18+ verified.
That’s what your staff see.

Members’ ID images, selfies, legal names, addresses and exact birth dates are not shared with server staff.

Setup questions

Roles, access and verification.

Understand how the pieces fit before you bring the bot into your community.

Does the bot decide which channels members can access?

No. Your server’s Discord permissions control channel access. GetVerified assigns the verified role those permissions use.

Will moderators need to review IDs?

No. The ID and live selfie are checked securely outside Discord. Staff see whether the member has been verified as 18 or older.

What happens when someone is already verified?

If they verified in another server with the GetVerified bot, and that verification is still active and meets your age requirement, the bot adds your role without a new upload. Otherwise, the member completes the usual verification steps.

What does it cost?

The bot is free to install. Servers pay for new verifications. Welcoming a member whose active verification meets your age requirement doesn’t count as a new verification.
